If your goal is to illuminate the sign itself, we recommend increasing the mounting hole from our standard 7/16" to 7/8". The larger opening allows the LED to sit inside your material, and light to travel through it, rather than be blocked by it. When paired with etched acrylic, sandblasted surfaces, or a frosted vinyl overlay, the light disperses throughout the graphic, creating logos and lettering that appear to glow from within.
The result is a sophisticated illuminated display without bulky light boxes or complicated fabrication.
But what if you prefer something more understated? Simply use the standard 7/16" mounting hole. Instead of passing through the material, the light gently washes behind the panel, producing a soft halo around the display. It's a completely different aesthetic—clean, modern, and ideal for signs where subtlety makes the biggest statement.
